Relax already

Boy it’s nice to relax. Time alone to sip some tea and read a book is as precious as a drink of cold water on a hot day. There are volumes written on how to relax, why relaxing is good for our health, and where we should go to find this enlightened state.

All I know is that using a lap desk helps me to achieve the relaxed state that I’m looking for. The support it offers as I lean back against the head of my bed and rest my arms on its surface is worth the effort of finding the lap desk, my book and the perfect mug for my tea. It’s worth the effort of boiling the water, choosing the right flavor of tea for the moment, finding my reading glasses, locating my book, lifting the desk onto the bed and pulling it onto my lap.

I gather the elements of relaxation like others gather flowers for the dinner table or the perfect foods for a picnic. My sheets are mint green microfiber and slide over my skin like satin. My bed lamp is angled for good lighting but no sideways glare into my eyes. My blanket is Egyptian cotton and my pillows are stuffed with down. Soft music comes from my CD player and a big bowl of popcorn is at my side. A stack of books is on the floor; two more books are in the bed with me. A fast read novel and a book on life between lives both call to me. My lap desk is made of lovely cherry wood with a pattern that reminds me of water. Its 16” x 18” surface is perfect for holding the book, the cloth napkin, and the smaller bowl of popcorn. I place another smaller pillow into the arch of my lower back for support. Happy in my bed, I sip my tea, lean my forearms on my lap desk, open my novel, take a deep breath and relax. This is the perfect ending for any kind of day.

Whether relaxing in bed is the ending or the beginning or your day, lap desks can add to your sense of relaxation by supporting your posture as well as your book, computer, or writing materials. They can be found at www.luxurylapdesk.com
